Mad Skills Motocross coming soon
I know you have heard it before, but a release date has been set for Mad Skills Motocross. This time it is for real though, and we have even gone live with the website. Check it out, if you want to know the date of release: www.MadSkillsMotocross.com
The game has both grown and shrunk in scope since the first plan was made. This is always the case in games development, I think, because a very large part of developing a game is to experiment and see what works and what doesn’t. Keep reading to find out how the game is structured nowadays.

First of all, there is only Arcade Mode. We had to rip out Simulation Mode because it was taking too much time to do them both. Don’t worry though, if enough people want it we will finish and release Simulation Mode as an addon-pack. Why did we choose to keep Arcade Mode? Simply because Simulation Mode is too frustrating for the majority of players to begin with. Arcade Mode is much easier to get into, and then making the switch to Simulation is a lot easier.
Second, there are power-ups. 5 in total. Some are useful, some are silly, and some are both. They are all a lot of fun though: Jumper, Nitro, Glider, Rockets, and Turbo. They rock, but are not very realistic. Simulation Mode will not have any of them.
Third, there are challenge tracks. Three in each of the first four divisions. Some examples: “To complete this track, you must do a 2 second wheelie and one frontflip” or “You have 15 seconds to reach the finish line, and you also need to pull off a double backflip”. This is great fun, but mostly they are meant to teach the player something. Every time you get a new power-up, there will be a challenge track that can only be accomplished by using the power-up correctly. So it’s like a tutorial, but without the excessive hand-holding. It doesn’t feel like a tutorial.
Fourth, there are stars to collect. Kind of like achievements, but not as meaningless. For each kind of trick, you can get between 1 and 5 stars. Later they can be viewed in your profile so you can see which ones you haven’t maxed out yet. Great for replay value.
Fifth, there is a Time-Attack mode. Here you race against your own ghost to shave those precious milliseconds off your best time. Also great for replay value.
Development doesn’t stop here though, we will keep evolving the game according to players’ wishes. The game has an auto-updater, so you will get all the updates and bug-fixes with no effort or delay.
